CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) is one of the UK’s leading awarding organisations for counselling training. These are two nationally recognised qualifications forming the first stages of professional counselling training. Level 2 develops core counselling skills, ethical awareness and safe practice in helping relationships. Level 3 deepens counselling theory, self-awareness and understanding of professional practice, preparing learners for practitioner-level training.
The Fast-Track pathway allows you to complete Level 2 in 13 weeks and Level 3 in 15 weeks without a long break between qualifications. It covers the same CPCAB learning outcomes and assessments as the standard courses but at a more intensive pace. It is ideal for motivated learners who can commit to regular attendance, study and personal development.
This course provides both practical and emotional insight. Key areas of study include: Core counselling and communication skills Safe and ethical practice Counselling theory and its application The counselling relationship and boundaries Equality, diversity and individual difference Self-awareness and personal development Learning includes live teaching, group discussion, skills practice, reflective journals and written coursework.
After successfully completing both qualifications, you can apply for a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, subject to meeting the training provider’s entry and readiness requirements. Level 4 develops the knowledge, skills and supervised client experience required to work towards qualifying as a professional counsellor.
The CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (CSK-L2) and CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies (CST-L3) have both been awarded NCPS Recognised Qualification status by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).Start date: Monday 11 January 2027 Day and time: Mondays, 10am–6pm Delivery: Weekly live online classes during term time Total duration: 28 teaching weeks Level 2: 11 January to 26 April 2027 Course fee: £750 Level 3: 10 May to 4 October 2027 Course fee: £850 Progression to Level 3 is subject to successfully completing Level 2, meeting attendance and coursework requirements, and demonstrating readiness to progress.
